This past January, a relatively new restaurant has taken the place of the old Robuchon restaurant at the Lisboa Hotel in Macau. Decided to give it a try and was gladly surprised. It was lunch, and wasn’t too hungry… Degustation menu for one please!! Started with an Egly-Ouriet, Grand Cru Rose. Lucky me, no bottles have been opened up and it was like it was just for me. Their banana bread was excellent. An interesting take of the “dinner roll”, but extremely moist and a hint of banana flavour. Add some of their home made banana butter, and you’ve got dessert. It’s nothing like I’ve ever tasted before. Their chorizo bread, salty and moist. A thick dough-like texture. Need to stop, and wait for the real meal! I spoke to the captain of the house and discussed the dishes served. I explained how surprised I was and how glad that I was to have come. He mentioned that they are developing a seasonal menus as well, and should be ready by the next time I visit. Servings are very generous and menu is very large. If you’re in macau, this is a great place to have Michelin quality food for a fraction of the price. The degustation menu (which is the same at lunch and dinner) and some wine runs about 1100 MOP ($130 USD). This is a fairly new restaurant, and I think reservations aren’t needed.
