I really enjoy the Japanese interpretation of Italian cuisine. Mainly because their sauces are very delicate and not overpowering. Reservations is a must in advance, or else you’ll be waiting a long time at the door. This place is packed, even on the weekdays. Situated close by Ala Moana mall, and beside a few shady Korean sauna’s, streets are all one way. Parking is difficult to find, but well worth the search.
Ready desserts and fresh ingredients. I’m not sure what they do with all of the oranges and limes..
Prosecco to start.
They have a very large Napa selection. Not being a big fan of Napa, I stick with my sparkly.
Bread with the usual balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
Grilled scallops with eggplant in a balsamic reduction sauce.
King crab with tomato cream sauce and broccoli. Noodles, al dente.. perfect.
I had to re-order the cappuccino, and this one was just as bad. I don’t know if anyone makes it proper in Honolulu. Anyone know where I can get a good one? They didn’t even have raw sugar.
Tiramisu, meh.
OK dessert #1 didn’t work well, so let’s go for #2. Cheesecake…….
Meh.
Overall, it’s not fair to judge this place because there were to many other main courses I wanted to order. But I came for pasta, and that was excellent. I highly recommend it. But if you’re a cappuccino drinker and have a sweet tooth, be warned. Don’t order dessert. Head over to La Palme D’or Patisserie at the Ala Moana Mall.
I’ll be back to try the other pastas and pizzas.
